PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

These short-term therapeutic homes (crisis homes) were established to support children in crisis. This includes but is not limited to intensive Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychiatric services, mental health counseling, 1 to 1 staff-to-client ratios. The goal is to quickly stabilize a client so they can step down to a lower level of support. Short-term is generally considered 2-6 months; however, every client responds to the treatment differently. In addition to trying to mitigate behaviors such as physical aggression, property destruction, AWOL, and self-injurious the team also concurrently work on teaching skills that will hopefully prepare them for the next setting.

“In the summer of 2021, Hampton Court received a referral for a client in a state of crisis. The client had a history of physical and verbal aggression, elopement and general non-compliance/refusal of tasks. The client had been in and out of children’s psychiatric placements in the months prior to the referral, and had found no success in any program. During their stay at Hampton Court the client was able to decrease all behaviors and increase his skills. Client was able to return to school full time in a normal classroom setting with minimal supports. Client was scheduled for HCBS placement prior to Hampton (a higher level of care) but was able to transition instead to a step-down facility and is now on track to return home soon.”
